The beloved princess Galyani Vadhana died in January at the age of 84 years from abdominal cancer. The 6-day and 300 million baht (6.6 million euro) royal funeral ceremony started two days ago at the Grand Palace. Shows and parties have been canceled or postponed and TV is broadcasting either the royal ceremonies or other appropriate programs. We are pretty much in the middle of the happening since our hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Palace. People from whole Thailand came to pay respect to the princess one more time. Somehow it is very strange thought to see all these thousands of people kneeling down when the monarch family is passing by in their fancy limousines.
