Where in the world are Zoe and Steve? …or, Have they gone completely mad! Why don’t they have jobs?

San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico

We flew into Cancún in the east and rode slowly out west. After two and a half months in Mérida we finally left our lovely little casa. Even though the crow flies less than 400 km to Celestún, we made it in about 500. Along the way we made an extra loop south of Mérida for a total of 881 km (547 mi).

We rode thru Campeche, Sabancuy and spent a few days camping out near Palenque. Now we are in the lovely little city of San Cristóbal de las Casas which is like a micro-sized New York City: lovely little organic vegetarian restaurants, real bike shops, live music, dance and yoga classes (tho we don’t take them), tattoo parlors, fast ‘n furious bass mobiles, graffiti, taxis and plenty of people, some things we like more than others.

We’ve logged about 1600 km (1000 mi) so far; but it’s been really flat and easy-riding. The last 200 km horizontally and 2 km vertically were accomplished in an air-conditioned bus right out of Palenque.
